This paper reviews research on disinformation from 2002 to 2021 using bibliometric methods. It finds the USA to be the most influential country. Popular topics include social media, COVID-19, and vaccination. The study identifies four main research themes: misinformation memory, disinformation on social media, public health and big data technology in handling misinformation. Future research should focus on disinformation mechanisms, social media users, and algorithm applications.
